I’m an Associate Professor at Deakin University, where I research higher education, particularly assessment, feedback, learning and artificial intelligence.

Much of my work now revolves around assessment. Universities need ways of knowing what students can do, but AI is changing both what students can do and the conditions under which we can make claims about their learning. I’m interested in what follows from that, including how we design assessment, where we draw boundaries around AI use, what makes assessment worthwhile for students, and how increasingly invisible technologies such as AI glasses complicate the whole enterprise.
